Meijer Holiday 2020 Concept Work

I had the pleasure of assisting Meijer designers Courtney Stuart, Michelle Beyer, Kristin Sibary, Shauna Pierson, Sarah Lareau, and contractor Sydney Klemeks, in creating initial sketch concepts fo Meijer’s 2020 Holiday Seasonal signage.

The illustrations used in the final signage were created by Julia Green (Rapp Art).
Initially, I was brought into the project to pick up where Kristin left off on her Seasonal Pad concept. Below is a concept variant built off of Kristin’s work and created with pre-made assets that were provided to the team.
In addition helping with the Seasonal Pad concept, I sketched out concept work for Seasonal Textile and Bake areas alongside the Redstitch team. They were later refined by Meijer’s design team and illustrated by Julia for production.
Seasonal Textiles maintained aspects of the initial concept sketch, such as the pot holders featured inside the center hut and the oven mitts hoisting the string lights.
Seasonal Bake maintained aspects of the initial concept sketch as well, such as the gingerbread cookies decorating the garland lining of the huts, the wooden utensils framing the center hut, and the gingerbread houses featured inside.
Below are unused concept sketches, including a few Sandy background and Common Area concepts. At the time, the company wasn’t sure if Sandy would leave her stable for the Holiday season.
The Common Area graphics were made to resemble some of the concepts at the time. As refinement of the Holiday artwork continued, the perspective used for the common area changed.
In the concepts below, ideas for Sandy ranged from roaming on a snowy hillside to being a special attraction at the Holiday Market.
